Chapter 5 “How are you feeling?” “Better…I guess.” Atop the boy’s stomach, Temera curled up into a tight, warm ball with his head rested on his chest. Chris lay sprawled across his bed sheet amidst his own isolated, blackened room with closed windows and doors. Absently, he ran his burnt finger across the bird’s smooth crimson feathers.
